Costa Brava Coast - the symbol of the Spanish province of Catalonia, extends for a length of approx. 200 km from the border with France to Barcelona. The Mediterranean climate guarantees more than 300 sunny days during the year, hot days and pleasant nights. Costa Brava, called the Swimming Pool of Europe, visited by crowds of tourists, also has as yet unexplored areas.
The coastline conceals two faces - the wild North and mild south. From the French border to Blanes unspoiled beaches dominate, the sea is turquoise in colour and the scenic bay ends with steep cliffs. Surrounded by pine forests, that in places come up right to the sea, you can find places like Rosas that join history and modernity. Founded by the Greeks it is currently the flagship of the northern part of the coast. There is broad and sandy beach of Santa Margarita here, over 600 m long, famous for its hot sand and clean water.
Rosas is also an excellent getaway base for intellectual travels in this part of Spain. In the nearby Cadaques called the most beautiful village of the world are private art galleries, it is here that Pablo Picasso and Gabriel García Márquez lived and worked. Salvador Dali spent his holidays here, and worked in Figueres, 19 km away. The Museum of surrealism is located here, where Dali himself gathered most of his work. Farther south, the coast changes into a calmer nature. The Wild Coast ends in Tossa de Mar, where there are very good conditions for diving.
However, it is not only the wide beach and small coves, but also the winding streets and very well-preserved old town of Vila Vella, surrounded by medieval walls. Here begins the part of the coast called Costa del Maresme; it is a section that comprises an almost fifty-kilometer sandy beach. A train and seaside boardwalk run along it, which link the tourist destinations: Lloret de Mar, Santa Susana, Malgrat de Mar and Calellę. Beautiful, wide beaches are flagship of this part of Costa Brava.
In Lloret de Mar, it is worth visiting Fenals Beach awarded the Blue Flag certificate, guaranteeing the highest quality. Santa Susana resort is a terrifically developed tourist infrastructure ensuring fantastic holidays and plenty of entertainment. The town's history dates back to the 12th century, when the first settlers started wine-growing here. The numerous fortresses, which have been preserved until today, reflect the long and turbulent history: Pla de la Torre, Can Ratés, Can Bonet d'Avall or Torre Montagut.
At present, Santa Susana is a well-developed tourist resort, from here you can go on a boat cruise along the coast and experience an unforgettable adventure by going on a catamaran. Restaurants, bars, discos and shops that are open until late will not let you get bored in the evenings. The charming streets of the neighbouring Malgrat de Mar and lively boardwalk is filled with discos and bars, and it is the perfect proposition for amateurs of the nightlife.
Calella, which is located further South and popular among tourists, is the capital of the traditional Catalan dance - sardana. The wide, long beach and Manuel Puigvert boardwalk that stretches along it are the symbols of this destination. The whole of Costa Brava is vibrant resorts attracting thousands of tourists. Great natural conditions encourage for many sports, including diving, surfing and sailing. For children Water World awaits, as does Marineland dolphinarium. The greatest historical and cultural attraction is the capital of Catalonia - Barcelona. The gorgeous Spanish square and works of Antonio Gaudi, on the UNESCO List (Sagrada Familia and Güell park) are some of the many places you must see.
Also a stroll around Las Ramblas, the most famous alley in Barcelona leading to the port - it will provide unforgettable memories. The Costa Brava coast offers more than just golden beaches and night entertainment, it also lets you fall in love with the terrific Catalan cuisine, one of the best in the region of the Mediterranean Sea. This part of Spain is dominated by seafood, fish and fresh vegetables prepared in a variety of ways. Meat lovers will be delighted by local beef and lamb, as well as the traditionally-made sausages - fuet. Before the main meal, it is worth trying the traditional Pa amb tomàquet - bread with tomato paste. Finally, you can't forget about the Catalan sparkling wine Cava, produced by traditional methods, which tastes great on hot days.
Barcelona - a trip to the Catalan capital begins approx. 14.00, in order to watch the evening show of the magical fountain, one of the most famous attractions of Barcelona. Optional visit to the museum of the famous football team FC Barcelona. Free time (approx. 2 h) for individual tours of Sagrada Familia, shopping and stroll down Las Ramblas. Panoramic tour of the city centre, where you can admire the famous buildings of the famous Catalan architect Gaudi. Girona – a stroll through the old town and visiting the most interesting sites of the city, including the Gothic cathedral and old Jewish district. A visit to Figueres, the hometown of the famous painter - Salvador Dalí. Exploring one of the most interesting museums in the world, which was designed by the master himself. La Siesta - evening show in a typical Catalonian residence. Welcoming guests with sangria. Depending on the selected options: drinks or additionally dinner included in the price. Montserrat – a trip to the shrine compared to Jasna Góra. On the hill is a beautiful Basilica with a statuette of the Black Madonna, the patron of Catalonia and a Benedictine monastery.
