Majorca is the largest island in the archipelago of the Spanish Balearic Islands. There is a mild and warm Mediterranean climate here, due to which the temperature in the summer usually exceeds 30 degrees Celsius. Majorca captivates with its colourful landscape composed of lush-growing citrus trees, oranges and lemons, and the evergreen olive groves bring to mind the ancient times when the first Phoenicians and Greeks came to the island. The western coast is majestically dominated by the mountain range Sierra de Tramontana, where among the slopes the medieval village of Valldemossa is located.
It is here that at the turn of 1838/1839 Frederic Chopin was here together with George Sand. The famous couple also lived briefly in the capital of the island 17 km away - Palma de Mallorca. It is now a multicultural city and like a magnet attracts those desiring fun and all kinds of entertainment. The multitude of restaurants and discos will satisfy hotheads of the nightlife. On the northern tip of the island, the furthest protruding Formentor peninsula reveals the wild mountains that descend directly into the sea, almost vertical cliffs and Cape Cap de Fermentor with a lighthouse, the power of nature dominates.
The eastern part of the island is of a different nature. Already from the north along the coast are located cosy destinations that captivate with their Spanish climate and are gladly visited by tourist from all over the world.
