Wakacje Goa

In brief

The world learned of the attractive beaches of Goa in the 1960s, when hippies came here en masse in search of unspoilt beauty and freedom. The fabulous beaches, enchanting exotic views with palm trees bowing to the sea, intensely red sunsets and an authentic holiday spirit surrounded by incredibly beautiful nature now delight tourists from all over the world.

Goa - the smallest and most beautiful state in India – today it is a world renowned beach destination. Next to the climatic shacks luxurious hotels have sprung up. Despite the rapid growth of the main tourist centres, the unique atmosphere of lazy holidays, total relaxation and detachment from reality have survived. This is the magic of Goa! Here life rolls on the beach. The coast of Goa is a total of 125 km of beautiful beaches, each with its own character. In the southern part of Goa, the beaches and villages are calmer, as if they were created specifically for the purpose of a romantic trip. Palolem Beach, densely overgrown with coconut palm trees hanging down to the sea, played its part in the famous film "The Bourne Identity". The famous beach of the south is Betalbatim: long, peaceful, ideal for relaxation or long walks, it is called a hidden gem and tied to an ancient legend about the creation of Goa. In the north it connects with Colva - the oldest and largest resort in the south of Goa. There are many hotels, bars and souvenir stalls. The beach is wide and long, approx. 24 km, on weekends it is willingly visited by Indians coming here with their entire families.  Further south are the calmer beaches of Varca and Cavelossim. In the north of Goa you can feel more continental climates, the night life thrives here, and in iconic bars meet restless spirits from all over the world. That's how one relaxes on the beaches of Baga and Calangute. Baga has the most intense night life, there are the famous Club Tito's and Cafe Mambo. Calangute connects with Baga and is called the Queen of Beaches; the extremely picturesque and popular beach tends to be crowded in high season. A quieter beach is Candolim, beautifully scenic, with a wide offer of watersports. An attraction in the area is Fort Aguada, built by the Portuguese in 1612. North of Baga extends Anjuna, the former hippie capital of Goa, because this is the beach that the hippies fancied in the 1960s. Every Wednesday there is a flea market, where original souvenirs are exhibited by even more original sellers. Arpora is known for the Saturday night markets. Goa is paradise for shopaholics - in the stunningly colourful shops and on bazaars you can buy, practically for nothing, fantastic things from a variety of fabrics, as well as order one's own tailor-made creation. The selection of souvenirs and original jewellery causes the head to spin. Goa's atmosphere is very different from other states of India. At every step you can see Portuguese influence. The more than 450-year-old Portuguese presence has distinguished itself clearly in architecture, cuisine and lifestyle. Time passes here lazily like in Mediterranean countries, there is a siesta time, the kitchen is, of course, dominated by traditional Indian spices, but Portuguese influence can also be noticed. The land of culinary delight for vegetarians and enthusiasts of seafood!
