Hotel jest pięknie położony, wszystkie pokoje mają widok na morze, na wspaniały hotelowy ogród. Znajduje się w hotelowej dzielnicy Lido w Funchal, ale przez to, że jest oddalony od głównej drogi dosłownie o kilkadziesiąt metrów, panuje tam cisza, hotel jest bardzo kameralny. Typowych plaż na Maderze nie ma, ale z hotelu bardzo blisko było do promenady i specjalnie wydzielonych kąpielisk na brzegu morza. Na terenie hotelu jest oczywiście basen, z ogromną ilością leżaków (chyba nigdy ich nie zabrakło). Dla nas bardzo istotne było to, że nie włączano w ciągu dnia żadnej muzyki przy basenie, nie było żadnych dodatkowych głośnych zajęć - pełny relaks. Obsługa hotelu bardzo miła i pomocna. Hotel czysty, zadbany. Pokój mieliśmy duży, typu suite, z aneksem kuchennym. Zdecydowaliśmy się na opcję tylko ze śniadaniem, co było dobrym pretekstem do spróbowania miejscowej, przepysznej kuchni, a dostęp do kuchenki też czasem się przydał. Bezpośrednio przy hotelu jest market, w którym można było zaopatrzyć się we wszystko, co było potrzebne, łącznie z lekarstwami. W najbliższej (dosłownie) okolicy jest mnóstwo knajpek, większych i mniejszych, oferujących potrawy właściwie z całego świata, najwięcej oczywiście z ofertą dań miejscowych. Niemal przy hotelu były przystanki, z których autobusem linii 01 lub 02 można było dostać się w parę minut do centrum Funchal i wszystkich atrakcji stolicy lub, w przeciwną stronę, na plażę Formosa (spacerem około 40 minut). Wspomniane śniadania bardzo dobre, z dużym wyborem wędlin, serów (przepysznych) i ogromną ilością świeżych owoców. Jesteśmy bardzo zadowoleni z pobytu w Hotelu Eden Mar, to były wspaniałe dwa tygodnie. Miał tylko jeden mankament, ale podkreślam, że to nasze subiektywne zdanie. Otóż w hotelu odbywają się, w ramach wieczornych atrakcji, występy różnych artystów. Niektóre z nich (te, które odbywały się na zewnątrz) miały nagłośnienie godne Stadionu Narodowego w Warszawie. Dla nas było to uciążliwe, jednak nie wpływa na ogólną, bardzo wysoką ocenę hotelu. Koncerty kończyły się o 23.00, a potem zapadała błoga cisza :-)

Hotel wart polecenia, dla wymagających gości! Jak wszystkie hotele w dzielnicy Lido ma już swoje lata, ale jest w całości odnowiony i urządzony nowocześnie. Pokoje przestronne (osobna sypialnia, salon i aneks kuchenny). Wszystkie pokoje mają widok na morze, im wyższe piętro tym piękniejszy. Hotel jest duży, ale podzielony na części, dzięki czemu ma się wrażenie kameralności. Można odpoczywać w sąsiedztwie pięknego ogrodu, skorzystać z restauracji serwującej lunch. Przy basenie mimo wysokiego sezonu zawsze było miejsce, dostępne są również baseny wewnętrzne. Na strefie basenowej cicho, bez głośnej muzyki i hałaśliwych gości. Wszędzie nieskazitelnie czysto. Śniadania różnorodne, z bogatym wyborem świeżych owoców i warzyw- każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. Z plaży w pobliżu hotelu nie korzystaliśmy, ale to już specyfika samej Madery, że większość wypoczynku nie koncentruje się na pływaniu w oceanie. Obsługa recepcyjna bardzo pomocna, pomogli w załatwieniu samochodu na wynajem. Na animacje składał się wieczór muzyki na żywo. Jako, że wylot do Polski mieliśmy dopiero późnym wieczorem cały ostatni dzień mogliśmy korzystać z infrastruktury hotelu. Podsumowując- polecam bardzo!

Hotel należy do kompleksu hotelowego PortoBay. Pokój bardzo przestronny z wyposażonym aneksem kuchennym i balkonem ze stolikiem. Niestety po pokoju latały pojedyncze komary i mole. W kompleksie hotelowym jest kilka basenów, barów, leżaki i dużo roślinności. Hotel położony w bliskiej odległości od oceanu, tuż przy promenadzie. Do centrum można dojść na pieszo w 20-25 min.

Hotel elegancki pięknie położony z zadbanym ogrodem, basenami i widokiem na ocean. Blisko sklepy i promenada. Pokój przestronny i dobrze wyciszony, czysty.W pełni wyposażony aneks jadalny. Bardzo wygodne i duże łóżka!! Dodatkowym atutem hotelu jest wypożyczalnia samochodów, z której korzystaliśmy (mieliśmy nowiutkie renault captur w automacie). Po skończeniu wynajmu kluczyki można po prostu zostawić w recepcji hotelu - duża wygoda.Ze wzgledu na wzniesienia polecam wypożyczenie samochodu z automatyczną skrzynią biegów- sprawdziła się w tym górzystym terenie. Wysoki standard hotelu i dbałość o klienta: miłą niespodzianką był szampan i kartka z życzeniami w dniu moich urodzin. Wieczorami muzyka na żywo. Jedzenie smaczne i urozmaicone, na terenie hotelu jest kilka restauracji i barów. Mimo iż mieliśmy wykupione tylko śniadania, korzystaliśmy z restauracji hotelowej również wieczorami - po prostu dobre i sprawdzone jedzenie - w innych miejscach na Maderze posiłki nie zawsze mi smakowały. Zamawiając danie w restauracji hotelowej wiedzieliśmy, że się nie zawiedziemy. Gorąco polecam ten hotel. Wakacje na Maderze uważam za bardzo udane. Przelot bez żadnych sensacji. Hotel - strzał w dziesiątkę. Nie korzystaliśmy z wycieczek fakultatywnych, więc ich nie oceniam.Nie było żadnych trudności, gdy potrzebowałam skontaktować się z rezydentem. Duży plus dla Itaki i obsługi hotelowej za uwzględnienie moich próśb co do lokalizacji pokoju - przerosły moje oczekiwania.

Hotel super dla osób lubiących klasykę. Ogród hotelowy bajeczny. Leżaki codziennie rano szorowane i dezynfekowane. Woda w basenie badana pod względem jakości. Byliśmy mile zaskoczeni czystością panującą nie tylko w hotelu ale na całej wyspie. Wiele nacji powinno uczyć się od Maderczyków jak należy dbać o wizerunek kraju. Gorąco polecam i hotel i wyspę.

The centre of the island — cable car ride over the rooftops of the city of Funchal to the Monthe hill. Visiting: the sanctuary of Our Lady on Monte hill, tropical garden with Madeira's relic endemic vegetation. The picturesque mountain road leads to the heart of the island, where from panoramic terraces of Eira do Serrado you can admire the breathtaking view of the mountain precipices. A drive to a secluded village, the Valley of the Nuns, tasting the local specialty - liqueurs with chestnut, chocolate and passion fruit flavors. The route leads to the other side of the mountain range, to Câmara de Lobos - a typical fishing village with a charming port, Winston Churchill's favourite place. Optionally: a crazy downhill ride on wicker sleighs from Monte Hill (additionally payable: 15 EUR/person). Day trip. A drive through the world's largest valleys, covered with ancient Laurisilva laurel trees, to Ribeiro Frio village with a state-owned trout farm. A visit to the heritage park of traditional houses with thatched roofs in the village of Santana, admiring the cliff landscape of the peninsula of St Lawrence, vantage points with a panorama of Eagle Rock, the islands of Porto Santo, Desertas and the runway of the airport supported on 180 columns. Evening with fado and Madeiran folklore — dinner in a traditional restaurant comprised of specialties of the cuisine: espetada (grilled meat) with polenta (fried cornmeal), soup, salad, boiled vegetables, dessert. The dinner is accompanied by the performance of a folk band (singing and dancing, traditional instruments) and then a concert of Portuguese fado songs performed by one of the best female singers on the island. Levada — Madeira is famous for its canals, which provide every corner of the island with water from the mountains. They were built here already in the days of the first Portuguese colonizers. Along the canals many trekking routes of varying difficulty were created. Please bring: sports shoes, clothing suited to changing weather, drinks and lunch. The prices include transport and the care of an English-speaking mountain guide.
Levada Rabacal — level: average, approx. 13 km, trekking time: approx. 4 h, on the route: the high waterfall Risco and cascade "25 springs" consisting of many waterfalls, the UNESCO-protected laurel forest Laurissilva. Price - approx. 33 EUR; from hotels from the east of the island - approx. 37 EUR, from the west and the north - approx. 37 EUR.
Funchal — a visit to the city market where the inhabitants of Madeira meet. Located in the heart of the center of Funchal, the market offers the best fruits, vegetables and flowers on the island and local gastronomy and crafts. A walk through the historic city center: the port area, the 15th-century Manueline style cathedral, the Madeira parliament building, the citadel of St. Lawrence and the statue of Józef Piłsudski. Visiting the famous "Old Blandy Wine Lodge" winery, getting to know the production process of the exceptional Madeira wine, which has its unique taste due to its aging in oak barrels. Tasting. A drive to the Pico dos Barcelos (355 m) lookout point, which offers a panoramic view of the entire city. Half-day trip. Price - approx. 34 EUR (includes: entrance tickets, wine tasting, Polish language guide care); from hotels from the east of the island - approx. 40 EUR, from the west and the north - approx. 60 EUR.
Levada to Furado — trekking on the levadas, unique irrigation channels. Level: medium, approx. 11 km, trekking time: approx. 5 hours. Route starts at Ribeiro Frio in the commune of Santana. Along the way there are wonderful views of the valleys and the peaks of the island. Stop and lunch at the old Herdade do Lombo das Faias farm. Continuation of trekking along the levada to Furado, an opportunity to admire the endemic flora and fauna of the laurel forest (so-called Laurissilva). Trekking ends with a descent to the Portela village. One should take suitable clothing and trekking footwear. Price - from approx. 43 EUR (includes: transport, supervision of a Polish-speaking guide, lunch at the farm).
Local excursions are organized by local travel agencies under the conditions fixed by them. It's possible to disorganize trips due to low number of applicants.
