Description
1. DAY. Meeting of participants at the airport. Flight to Mexico City. Transfer to the hotel in the city center. Accommodation and overnight.
2. DAY. GUADALUPE - TEOTIHUACÁN - MEXICO CITY Breakfast. Visiting the National Anthropological Museum, where you can admire the monuments of pre-Columbian cultures: Aztecs, Zapotecs and Mayas. Transfer to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of GUADALUPE, where there is an original image of the Virgin Mary. Departure to TEOTIHUACÁN, the largest ancient city of Mexico - "the place where people become gods", included on the UNESCO list. Visiting the imposing ruins of the city: the Pyramid of the Moon, the Pyramid of the Sun, the Citadel, the Avenue of the Dead, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. A short visit to the production site of beautiful volcanic stone products: obsidian and tasting local drinks. Back to MEXICO CITY. Sightseeing: the historic center of MEXICO CITY, inscribed on the UNESCO list: Zocalo - Constitution Square with the baroque Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace erected in the place of the palace of the last Aztec ruler - Montezuma, with murals of Diego Rivera, the ruins of Templo Mayor - the former Aztec temple. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
3. DAY. PUEBLA Breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to PUEBLA, known as the City of Angels, located in the valley between the volcanoes of La Malinche and Pico de Orizaba, a city famous for its ceramics, sweets and numerous churches that decorate even the smallest street. Visiting the historic center included on the UNESCO list: Puebla Cathedral (the second largest cathedral in Mexico), Santo Domingo Church with the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary (a jewel of Mexican Baroque), Sweets Street, El Parian market, full of colors, Los Sapos district of artists. Transfer to Oaxaca, where elements of Spanish and Indian culture intertwine, famous for its art galleries and shops with artistic handicrafts. Hotel accommodation. Dinner and overnight.
4. DAY. MONTE ALBÁN - OAXACA Breakfast. Drive along a picturesque route through the Sierra Madre Mountains to the archaeological zone of MONTE ALBAN, the ancient capital of the Olmecs and Zapotecs, and at the same time one of the most magnificent pyramid complexes in Mexico (located approx. 2000 m above sea level). Visiting the archaeological site: North Platform, Observatory, pyramids, Palace of Dancers. Numerous pyramids, terraces and artificial mounds carved on the hillside are symbols of the sacred topography inscribed on the UNESCO list. Return to OAXACA. Lunch in a charming restaurant in the center. Walk through the picturesque winding streets of the colonial city and encounter the colorful Indian culture. The historic center of Oaxaca is on the UNESCO list: the 18th-century cathedral with a plateresco-style facade, the Santo Domingo church, whose stuccoed interior is one of the richest in Mexico. A visit to the market, where you can try and buy local chocolate products as well as fruit, vegetables and spices. Return to the hotel, overnight.
5. DAY. SANTA MARIA DEL TULE - MITLA - TEHUANTEPEC Breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to the village of SANTA MARIA DEL TULE, where the famous Tule tree stands next to a small church - a huge cypress whose age is estimated at 2,000. years. Departure to one of the most famous archaeological sites of Mexico - MITLA. The complex includes, among others: a group of columns, a group of churches, remains of buildings and tombs. The intricate stone ornaments are the greatest treasure of this place. Transfer to TEHUANTEPEC, check-in at the hotel, dinner, overnight.
6. DAY. SUMIDERO CANYON - SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS Breakfast. Checking out. Early in the morning, drive to the picturesque SUMIDERO CANYON, up to 1,200 m deep. A boat trip on the Grijalava River in the Sumidero National Park. Many animals live here: crocodiles, lizards and many species of birds - cormorants, kingfishers, vultures, pelicans. Transfer to SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS. Walk through the picturesque historic center of the colonial city built in 1524: the cathedral in Plaza del Marzo and the Church of Santo Domingo, which has a square with stalls where local people sell handicrafts. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
7. DAY. SAN JUAN CHAMULA - ZINACANTAN Breakfast. Transfer to the Indian village of SAN JUAN CHAMULA, where you can feel the atmosphere of the inhabitants' everyday life and their colorful traditions. In San Juan Chamula there is a church where shamans heal people with secret medicines known from the ancient culture of Mexico. Then the village of ZINACANTAN, where you will see how traditional huipils embroidered clothes are made. Return to the hotel. Free time and accommodation.
8. DAY. WATERFALLS AGUA AZUL Breakfast. Check out from the hotel. Take the exit towards Palenque. On the way, a stop (depending on weather conditions) at the AGUA AZUL WATERFALLS, whose water has a unique turquoise color, and free time for a bath. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation, dinner and overnight.
9. DAY. YAXCHILAN - BONAMPAK Early departure towards the Guatemala border. Breakfast in the form of a package. A boat trip on the Usumacinta River to hidden in the jungle YAXCHILAN, an important archaeological site in Mexico, once an important cultural center, forming part of the so-called Mayan river culture. Visiting temples and buildings hidden among the rich flora and fauna, with many well-preserved sculptures. Lunch. Transfer to BONAMPAK, an archaeological zone with sacred buildings, with wonderful murals, murals in one of the Mayan temples. This sacred place is looked after by the Lacandones Indians. 11. DAY. BECAL - UXMAL - MÉRIDA Breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to BECAL, famous for the production of Panama straw hats and sombreros. Here you can see how local women weave hats from palm fibers. Transfer to UXMAL, which is under the patronage of UNESCO, with one of the most beautiful archaeological sites on the Yucatan Peninsula, where the famous Mayan ruins are located. Sightseeing: The Great Pyramid of the Magician, also known as the Pyramid of the Dwarf, the House of the Nuns, the Governor's Palace. Visit to the Cocoa Museum.
