The footprints of the rich history can be found in the city centre. The more than 2 km long and 8 m high defense walls make a huge impression. The Great Mosque, raw in architecture, looks more like a fortress and together with the neighbouring ribat - defensive monastery - shows the power and force of the city in the past. From the tower of the ribat extends a fascinating view of the medina and courtyard of the Great Mosque.

However, history and its relics are only one of the assets of this place. Sousse is also a modern city with schools, universities, production plants, the city lives off industry, also tourist. The beautiful beach above all creates conditions for tourist development, along which, beginning from Boujafaar Square in the centre, towards the north a strip of hotels has been built of varying standards. The more luxurious and expensive are situated in the "port-garden", which the yacht harbour El Kantaoui is called, where yacht and boat are anchored almost outside the windows of their owners.

We can also find a countless number of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops here. Further north, where the hotels end, carefully maintained golf course stretch out. Along the beach there are watersport and diving centres. Those who grow tired of sport, swimming and sunbathing, can regenerate in the terrifically equipped thalassotherapy centres on the premises of the hotels.
