Enjoy a trip to Tunisia in the footsteps of ancient civilizations and early Arab history! 1. DAY. MONASTIR Collection of participants at the airport. Flight to MONASTIR. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
2. DAY. MONASTIR - SOUSSE (route: approx. 40 km) Breakfast. Visiting MONASTIR - the city that experienced the greatest development under the rule of the first president of independent Tunisia, Habib Burgiba. A visit to his mausoleum. Monastir was one of the film locations during the filming of "Life of Brian" based on Monty Python. Visiting the magnificent Ribat Fortress, built in the 8th century to defend the country from hostile attacks. At the back of the fortress there is a view of the city and the bay. Lunch at the hotel. Transfer to the center of SOUSSE and sightseeing of the old part of the city, where you can find traces of Punic, Roman, Byzantine and Early Arabian history. Free time in the medina, for shopping. Return to the hotel. For those willing (for an additional fee on site) the possibility of riding camels or quads. Dinner and overnight.
3. DAY. KAIROUAN - EL JEM (route: approx. 210 km) Breakfast. Visiting KAIROUAN - the fourth holy city of Islam. Founded in 670, it was a strategic point in the Arab conquest of North Africa and a great center of Muslim science and art. The rich architectural heritage of the city is under the patronage of UNESCO. A visit to the Grand Mosque - the oldest in North Africa, founded in 670, with a minaret resembling the tower of a Gothic castle. Then a visit to the beautifully decorated Sidi Sahbi mausoleum, also known as the Barbershop Mosque, with colorful mosaics and openwork stucco. Continue to admire the restored Aghlabid Basins, dating from the 9th century. In the city of Kairouan, the filming of the film "Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark" was filmed. Lunch. Free time in the medina, where you can buy souvenirs at a traditional Arab market. Transfer to EL JEM. Visiting the well-preserved ruins of the Roman amphitheater, considered the third largest of its kind in the ancient world, which viewers had the opportunity to see in the Oscar-winning production of "Gladiator". Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
4. DAY. ZAGHOUAN - THUGGA (route: approx. 450 km) Breakfast. Drive and visit the city of ZAGHOUAN, which can boast a breathtaking landscape. The town is an excellent starting point for enthusiasts of mountain climbing. In antiquity, it was an important urban center responsible for supplying water to Carthage. The water was transported from local sources through the aqueduct. Visiting the ruins of the Water Temple, which was the beginning of the aqueduct. Then a tour of the old town with Andalusian architecture. Lunch. Transfer to THUGGA, visiting the archaeological site entered on the UNESCO list. The most important monument is the mausoleum of Ateban, modeled on the mausoleum in Halicarnassus. There is also a Roman theater, numerous mosaics, ruins of dwellings and temples. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
5. DAY. EL HAOUARIA - KELIBIA - NABEUL - HAMAMET (route: approx. 430 km) Breakfast. Transfer to the Cap Bon peninsula, the most northeastern tip of Tunisia. It is called the "garden of Tunisia" because there are many olive and orange groves and vineyards here. Drive to EL HAOURIA, where steep cliffs meet the sea, creating a majestic landscape. Along the rocky coast you can find many caves, which were created as a result of the extraction of stone, which was used as a building material, among others. the Roman Colosseum. Then drive to the town of KELIBIA, where you can find many traces of ancient civilizations. One of the most important ports of the country is located here, while a Byzantine fortress from the 6th century towers on the hill. Transfer to the town of NABEUL, known for its ceramics. A visit to a pottery factory. Lunch. Then drive to HAMAMET, one of the most popular tourist resorts with a magnificent medina and colorful streets. Free time. Return to the hotel, dinner. Overnight.
6. DAY. TUNIS - CARTAGINA - SIDI BOU SAÏD (route: approx. 370 km) Breakfast. Transfer to TUNIS, the capital of the country. A visit to the city center and a walk through the vast labyrinth of narrow streets of the Medina of Tunis. Transfer to CARTAGINA - now a district of Tunis, where the presidential residence and villa estates of the Tunisian elite are located, and in antiquity - the center of first the Phoenician empire and then the Roman province in North Africa. A visit to the Punic harbors that made Carthage a powerhouse in antiquity. Then, explore Tophet, an ancient sacred area dedicated to the deities Tanit and Baal. Visiting the remains of the huge complex of the Antoninas, dating back to the 2nd-3rd century AD Lunch. Transfer to the neighboring village of SIDI BOU SAÏD, shimmering with white and blue, a walk through the streets of a town beautifully located on the Tunisian Bay. Free time. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight.
7. DAY. MONASTIR Breakfast. Free time in an all inclusive hotel. Possibility of an optional excursion (at an additional cost on site): approx. 2-hour boat or catamaran cruise from Port El Kantaoui around the coast. Soft drinks and fruit are available during the cruise. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
