WITH A HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
A flagship of Costa Rica is a majestic, active Arenal volcano located in the national park (1663 m a.s.l. ). In its vicinity there is the largest lake in the country - Arenal surrounded by tropical vegetation and hot springs, with medicinal properties. Green hills and the top immersed in the clouds create a picturesque landscape, which is why this is one of the most frequently photographed place in Costa Rica.

GREEN PARADISE
Paradise landscapes will delight every traveler, lovers of unspoilt nature and wild animals. The number of plant species is amazing: ferns, bamboos, banana trees, bromeliads, approx. 1250 types of orchids and Guanacaste - Costa Rica national tree. The variety of animals is also amazing: toucans, macaws, quetzals, hummingbirds, tapirs, raccoons, sloths, pumas, sphiggurus, sea turtles, caimans and alligators. The Monteverde rainforest immersed in the fog makes a huge impression, and a walk along the rope bridges suspended above the ground is the best way to explore. Must-see is a visit to one of the most beautiful parks in Costa Rica - Manuel Antonio National Park, where white beaches, jungle on one side and the Pacific Ocean create an amazing show of colors.

THE COLONIAL TREASURES
Considered the most beautiful capital of Central America - San José is famous for its great monuments. There is the Museum of Gold with one of the largest collection of pre-Columbian gold in Central America, a beautiful building of the National Theater and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Cartago is a pearl of colonial architecture with the famous Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels. It is also worth visiting the local market, where you can feel the authentic atmosphere of the city and try local specialties.

SURFING ON THE VOLCANO
Warm climate, wide beaches, large waves and great spots, such as the famous Playa Tamarindo with numerous surfing schools, Hermosa popular among experienced surfers or long and sandy, surrounded by palm trees Jacó beach with professional equipment rentals create excellent conditions for water sports enthusiasts. Costa Rica can be visited in many ways: on foot, on bicycles, on a pontoon during a river rafting or a kayak along the coast. Jungle trekking, riding down on the ropes and horse riding in the Rincón de la Vieja National Park are one of the most popular activities. It is also worth going on a catamaran cruise - the picturesque islands attract with crystal clear water, white beaches, and such as on the island of Tortuga, they are a great place for snorkelling.

SWEET AS PINEAPPLE, STRONG AS COFFEE
The local stalls bend under the abundance of tropical fruits: pineapples, bananas, mangoes, papayas, melons, watermelons ... You must try freshly squeezed juices and delicious smoothies, prepared from sun-ripened and juicy fruits that taste on an exotic beach like nowhere else in the world. Costa Rica is a paradise for coffee lovers, and the number of coffee types causes the head to spin. To get to know some of them, it is worth going to a coffee plantation and tasting one of the best coffees in the world.

Pilot: tourists are looked after by a Polish resident, whose tasks include help upon arrival, departure and stay, as well as registration for local trips.

Visa: not required for tourist trips up to 90 days; passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of return to Poland. It is required to have a return ticket or a ticket allowing the continuation of the journey.

Flight duration: Warsaw - San José: approx. 16 hours (with changeover).

Local time: in winter: GMT minus 7 hours.

Language: Spanish, communication in English possible.

Voltage: 110 V, American electrical sockets - adapter needed.

Currency: colon (1000 CRC = approx. PLN 6); American dollars issued after 2006 are accepted; most credit cards accepted; euro not accepted.

Tipping: it is customary to tip hotel staff.

Beaches: free.

Legal provisions: luggage of people entering Costa Rica is subjected to phytosanitary inspection: it is forbidden to import any food. It is also strictly forbidden to export works of pre-Columbian art and rare specimens of flora and fauna, fragments of the coral reef and crocodile leather products, etc. Smoking cigarettes in hotels permitted only in designated places.

Vaccinations: not required; medical care is at a high level and is easily available, the cost of a medical visit: approx. 100 USD.

Local trips: organized by local tourist agencies on terms specified by them. There is a possibility that, if there is not enough participants, a trip may be canceled.

Manuel Antonio National Park — a visit to one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica. On the premises of the park there are forests, swamps, as well as many species of fauna and flora. Walking through the paths you can observe wild animals living in the park, among others capuchin monkeys, spider and squirrel monkeys, numerous species of birds, as well as iguanas and sloths. Beautiful, wide, white beaches, overgrown cliffs towering above it, jungle on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other create an unforgettable show of colors. Price - approx. 80 USD.

Monteverde — transfer to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. On the surface of 10 thousand hectares there are over 13 km of walking routes surrounded by clouds. The reserve is the main ecotourism attraction in Costa Rica. After walking for about 2.5 km of the route, transport by a cable car to the highest peak of Monteverde. During the ride you can see the Arenal, Tenorio, Miravalles and Orosi volcanoes, as well as admire the breathtaking view of the Bay of Nicoya and the plain of Guanacaste. Price - approx. 135 USD (does not include: riding down on the ropes about 160 m above the ground: approx. USD 25).

Carara National Park and crocodiles — a visit to the Carara National Park, which is a perfect place to observe various species of birds, mammals and reptiles. Then, a boat trip along the Tarcoles River, where you can see the crocodiles lying on its banks. Price - approx. 90 USD.

La Paz Waterfalls and coffee plantation at Doka Coffee Estate — a visit to the La Paz Reserve with picturesque waterfalls and exotic plants. On the premises of the reserve there is an aviary with numerous species of birds, where you can feed hummingbirds and toucans on your own. There are also many other exhibitions, including with insects and butterflies, monkeys - capuchin observatory and a beautiful garden with orchids. Then, a visit to the coffee plantation Doka Coffee Estate, during which you can learn the techniques used for its production and taste the best coffee in Costa Rica. Price - approx. 140 USD.

Irazú volcano, Cartago city and Orosi Valley — the trip begins with trekking to the Iztaru settlement on the slope of the Irazú volcano. The winding road leads through fertile lands where various plant species are grown. The volcano hill offers an amazing view, both of the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific. Transfer to the city of Cartago. Stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels and at the local market. Then, a drive to the Orosi Valley, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica. Price - approx. 95 USD.

San José City Tour — a drive through the beautiful Sabana Park, then a walking tour around downtown San José full of wonderful monuments. Visiting the Metropolitan Cathedral, Central Park. Time for shopping at the old market. At the end, visiting the National Theater - a pearl of architecture, university and the Supreme Court. Price - approx. 105 USD.
