Lesbos - beaches, baths and sardines in the Sunshine Land

Lesbos, or the Land of the Sun, was devoted to Apollo, the solar god, patron of the arts and the guide of Muses, and to this day it is one of the sunniest regions in Greece - more than 3000 hours of sun are reported here annually.

Lyrical poetry was created on Lesbos. Songs performed to the accompaniment of the lyre, dedicated to Adonis and Aphrodite were given by to the world the queen of poetry - Sappho. Here, Aesop was born, the author of fairy tales - poetic parables about animals having human qualities. But it’s not mythology and poetry that made the island a popular resort. Located here are hot springs and natural baths, and all this is surrounded by lush vegetation, oak forests and olive groves. The island has retained an intimate character until today. The tourist industry is only 5% of the income, which means that you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life without having to encounter crowds of tourists, noisy discos, sky-high prices and souvenirs "made in China".

The post-volcanic nature, Mediterranean climate and great weather almost all year round are conducive to relaxation in every form. The island is of interest to both active travelers and amateurs of sunbathing and relaxation on the beach. You can find stunning natural caves and a Petrified Forest that is 20 million years old, as well as numerous monuments and museums. Let's add to this the springs that tempt with warmth and healing properties, beautiful beaches and stunning azure of waters and we’ll create the perfect recipe for a great holiday.

In addition to the centuries-old history and attractive nature, the region is famous for its cuisine and local specialties; three-fourths of Greek production of ouzo also takes place here - an anise flavoured vodka, which is best tried in one of the local taverns.
